Welcome to 6th Grade!
My name is Daragh Boland (pronounced “Dara”). I am a graduate from The State University of NY at Oneonta. I obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education for grades N-6 with a concentration in science.
I have substitute taught in many grades, became a Remedial Reading Specialist when I first moved to NC and served hundreds of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in Davidson County, NC. I then went on to teach second grade for more than 10 years at Wallburg Elementary School.
After an unexpected move to Florida I became a first grade teacher in Lakeland, FL. During my time in Florida I finished my Master’s Degree in Educational Curriculum and Instruction.
Upon my return to NC (much to my delight), I obtained a job teaching fifth grade at Fair Grove Elementary School. After a year at Fair Grove Elementary School, I was able to return to Wallburg Elementary. I have taught fifth grade and fourth grade math and science since my return. During the 2018-2019 school year and summer I obtained my add on licensure to teach gifted education in grades K-12.
I am passionate about teaching and consider myself a life-long learner. It is with honor, excitement, and humility that I teach at Oak Grove Middle School as a member of the Sixth Grade Polar Bear's Team as a science teacher.
