Welcome to 7th grade Social Studies!  I'm excited about another successful school year here at Oak Grove Middle.  I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education and obtained my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.  My goal this year is for your child to have a successful 7th grade year.  Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns.

Classroom Expectations:
 
Respect the School:
     * No food, drink, or gum.
     * Do not write on desks,walls, etc.
     * Help keep our school beautiful!
 
Respect the Teacher:
     * Stay in your seat during instruction.
     * Do not talk back or make inappropriate comments.
     * Do what is expected.
 
Respect Others:
     * Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.
     * Don't disrupt the learning of others.
 
Respect Yourself:
     * Bring all materials to class.
     * Be prepared to learn.
     * Do your best work.
 
Grading Policy:
 
Current 10-point Grading Scale

Beginning with academic year 2015-2016, Davidson County Schools adopted a 10-point grading scale for all students in grades 3-12.

Grading:
  • There shall be a minimum number of grades in the following categories each grading period:
*Major Works - 3
*Minor Works - 4
*Class/Homework- 5
 
  • Major Works consist of the following: tests, projects, presentations, papers, performances, and other teacher defined assignments
  • Minor Works consist of the following: quizzes, group and teacher-led activities, notebooks, cooperative activities, small scale labs, projects, group work. etc.

Make-Up Work
It is the student's responsibility to get make-up work from their teacher's. They will have 5 days from the day that they return to complete make-up work.
 
Late Work
Students shall not receive a 0 for turning in late assignments. Students will receive a 10 point deduction for each day for late work.
